Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Roberts’ Last-Second Jumper Sends Union Past UAH, 65-63, for GSC Championship

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Union women's basketball team delivered a dramatic finish Saturday afternoon as Aryn Roberts knocked down the game-winning jumper with one second remaining to lift the Lady Bulldogs to a 65-63 victory over Alabama–Huntsville at Spragins Hall.

This is Union's second straight conference title, sixth in the last seven years. Prior to the match up, UAH and the Lady Bulldogs have seen each other in the post season three times before. In 2015, 2020 and last season in 2025. Their last meeting was the 2025 GSC Championship match where Union defeated UAH 58-52. Today marks their fourth time meeting each other in the GSC playoffs.

During the regular season, UAH beat out Union in both contests.

In a back-and-forth battle that featured 12 lead changes and eight ties, Union made the final play count. With the score deadlocked at 63 and just seconds remaining, Roberts found space in the lane and buried the decisive jumper with one tick left on the clock, securing the win for the Lady Bulldogs.

Roberts finished with a team-high 17 points on an efficient 7-of-9 shooting performance while adding seven rebounds off the bench. She scored twice in the final two minutes, including the eventual game-winner.

Olivia Lee, who was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, anchored Union throughout the contest. The senior recorded 15 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double while adding three assists in 37 minutes of action.

Union jumped out to a fast start, shooting an impressive 84.6 percent in the first quarter to build a 26-12 lead. UAH responded with a strong second quarter and eventually took a narrow 33-31 advantage into halftime.

The second half remained tightly contested. Neither team led by more than five points in the final period as both sides traded baskets down the stretch. After UAH took a 63-60 lead with just over a minute to play, Katie Yoder drilled a clutch three-pointer with 57 seconds remaining to tie the game and set up the dramatic final possession.

Union finished the game shooting 48.1 percent from the field and received a strong lift from its bench, which contributed 29 points.

With the win, the Lady Bulldogs improved to 24-9 overall and capped the tournament with a thrilling championship-clinching performance. With the conference championship win, they earn an automatic berth into the NCAA National Tournament.
