VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Union University men's golf team finished 15th at the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate hosted by Valdosta State University. The 3-round event was played at the Kinderlou Forest Country Club and featured 16 teams with 88 golfers.Â
Of the 16 teams, 12 teams were ranked in the top-40 nationally, including the No. 2, 3, 4, and 7 ranked teams.Â
Union shot +15 for the event with rounds of 293, 291, and 295. No. 3 West Florida won the event for the second year in a row. The Argos finished at -21. The remaining top five finishes included No. 11 Columbus State (-18), No. 21 Lincoln Memorial (-16), No. 20 Barry (-15), and No. 4 Florida Southern (-14).Â
Union finished just five shots behind No. 2 Lee (+10) and 10 shots clear of Delta State (+25).Â
Matthew Westmoreland and
Trace Robinson led Union with T38 finishes. Both were even for the event at +2. Both players recorded an eagle on the same hole in the first round, the par 5 14th.
Matthew Westmoreland shot scores of 74, 72, 72, while Robinson fired rounds of 73, 73, 72.Â
Andrew Westmoreland finished in 48th place (+4),
Lane Carr in 75th (+10), and
Caleb Clifft in 85th (+19).Â
Up next for Union will be the Tennessee River Rumble March 23-24 in Lenore City, Tenn.Â
