Box Score MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Union University men's basketball team lost 97-63 Thursday night at the University of Montevallo. Union dropped to 8-12 overall and 4-10 in the Gulf South Conference. Montevallo improved to 16-6 on the season and 12-4 in league play.
Union defeated Montevallo at home earlier this season, 67-63.
The Bulldogs started the game with a 7-0 lead, sparked by a first-possession 3-pointer from
Devaki Garr. Union maintained the lead until a 3-pointer at the 11:49 mark gave Montevallo its first lead of the night.
The Falcons never trailed again and led 44-27 at the half.
The second half was all Montevallo, outscoring Union 53-36 in the final 20 minutes of play. The largest lead of the night for the Falcons was 40 points, 95-55, with 2:04 left in the game.
Union was led again by Terrence Ringo, Jr., with 24 points and 10 rebounds. This was his 10th double-double of the season and sixth in the past seven games. The only other Bulldog in double figures was
Sam Youngblood with 10 points. Union shot 41 percent from the field, 19 percent (5-26) from 3-point range, and 67 percent (10-15) from the free throw line.
Montevallo was led by James with 20 points. McKinnon added 18 points, Curry 17, and Fussell 16. The Falcons shot 56 percent from the field, 41 percent (12-29) from long range, and 63 percent (5-8) from the free throw line.
