Andrew Westmoreland's hole in one helps Union men's golf to top-10 finish

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. - The Union University men's golf team posted a ninth place finish at the Spring Bulldog Clash. The 3-round event was hosted by Barton College and was played at the Caledonia Golf and Fish Club, featuring 20 teams and 102 individuals. 

Union junior Andrew Westmoreland led Union in a tie for 13th place overall. He posted a +7 217 score including rounds of 77, 71, and 69. The 69 matched the lowest score in Tuesday's final round. It included a masterful two-hole stretch where he chipped in for an eagle on the par-five eighth hole, then hit a hole-in-one on the par-three ninth. 

The Union team finished ninth in the opening tournament of the spring. Union shot a 3-round 884, +44 including rounds of 302, 291, and 291. USCA won the event at +17 (857). 

Trace Robinson was the second highest Union finisher in a tie for 28th place. He was +11, 221 with scores of 74, 71, 76. Matthew Westmoreland finished T55 at +16 with the best round of 72 coming in round three. Caleb Clifft finished T60 at +17 including a 73 in the second round. Lane Carr finished T83 at +24 including a first round 73. 

Up next for Union will be the First Federal Classic hosted by Valdosta State University, March 9-10, in Valdosta, Ga.
