Union Shows Fight on the Road in GSC Matchup at Valdosta State

VALDOSTA, Ga. – Union closed out its Gulf South Conference road trip Saturday afternoon, falling 93-79 to Valdosta State at The Complex.

The Bulldogs were paced by senior Terrence Ringo Jr., who recorded a strong all-around performance with 17 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and six blocks. Ringo's presence was felt on both ends of the floor as he anchored Union defensively and sparked multiple second-half runs.

Union (10-16, 6-14 GSC) shot an efficient 48.6 percent from the field in the second half and finished at 44.9 percent overall, connecting on nine three-pointers and knocking down 80 percent from the free-throw line.

The Bulldogs also controlled the paint with 42 points inside and received a boost from their bench, which contributed 35 points.

Will Lovings-Watts provided a spark off the bench with 15 points and nine rebounds, going a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line.

Jamiir Allen added 13 points, including three three-pointers, while Devaki Garr chipped in 10 points. Mason McBride finished with nine points and four rebounds as Union saw multiple contributors step up offensively.

After trailing 48-38 at the break, Union trimmed the deficit to three early in the second half following a dunk from Ringo that made it 51-48. The Bulldogs continued to fight, cutting the margin to two at 53-51 on an Allen three-pointer midway through the period. However, Valdosta State used a surge midway through the half to extend its advantage and hold off Union's push.

Despite the setback, Union showcased resilience throughout, highlighted by defensive intensity from Ringo and consistent inside production. The Bulldogs will return home for their last weekend of regular season play. Fans can enjoy free admission thanks to the generosity of FirstBank.
