LIVINGSTON, Ala. — Union University women's basketball earned an 86–65 road win over West Alabama on Sunday afternoon in Gulf South Conference play at Pruitt Hall.
Union (10–5, 5–2 GSC) led wire-to-wire, using balanced scoring and defensive pressure to control the contest. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 22–16 lead after the first quarter and carried a 40–34 advantage into halftime.
The Bulldogs maintained momentum in the second half and pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring UWA 25–10 to seal the win. Union held the Tigers to just 15 percent shooting in the final period.
Olivia Lee led Union with 20 points, while Courtney Zensen added 17 points on four three-pointers. Aryn Roberts chipped in 12 points off the bench, and Abigail Bryan scored 11. Union finished with 39 bench points and forced 23 turnovers.
Union shot 46.9 percent from the floor and 36.7 percent from beyond the arc while scoring 22 points off turnovers.
Union will continue Gulf South Conference play on Wednesday, Jan. 8, when the Lady Bulldogs host Valdosta State at Fred DeLay Gymnasium. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
