Union women's cross country places third at UNA Invitational, Aguayo takes second

JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University women's cross country team posted an impressive third-place finish at the University of North Alabama Invitational. The 5K event featured 13 teams with 100 individuals. 

Addi Aguayo finished runner-up in the race with a time of 18:15. This time for Aguayo was the sixth fastest time in program history. Victoria Markham was close behind with a fourth-place finish and a time of 18:33. 

Union finished in third place with 103 points behind GSC foes West Florida (1st) and Alabama Huntsville (2nd). Auburn Montgomery and North Alabama finished out the top five. GSC opponents Montevello (8th) and West Alabama (9th) also competed. 

 Following Aguayo's record-book day and Markham's top-5 finish were Ayla Young in 15th, Clara Zinn 38th, Ryan Harter (54th), Heidi Munday (55th), and Sophie Crisler (62nd).

Up next for Union will be the Rhodes College Invitational, Saturday, September 20 at 8 a.m. in Memphis, Tenn. (Shelby Farms).
