BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- This week the GSC announced Elizabeth Gilbert as Freshman of the Week for week two.

This award encompasses competition from September 8-14 and is the first GSC weekly honor claimed by a Lady Bulldog since November 1, 2022, when Sydney Sample earned GSC Defensive Player of the Week. 

Gilbert had a very successful weekend at the Southwest Baptist Invitational. She recorded 44 kills, hit .272, 15 digs, six blocks, and 47 points. The freshman also earned her first career double-double, tallying a career high 16 kills and 11 digs against Harding. Gilbert proved to be a key offensive weapon for the Lady Bulldogs and set the tone for the team as they head into GSC conference play.

Gilbert found her way to the top 10 in kills for the entire Gulf South Conference after the second week of competition.

The Lady Bulldogs will take the road on September 23 to begin GSC conference play at Trevecca Nazarene University.
