HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Union University senior men's golfer
Gray Campbell climbed 35 spots following the completion of the second round of the 2025 NCAA D2 Men's Golf National Championship, South/Southeast Regional. Campbell's round was suspended until 6:00 a.m. Central Saturday morning with him sitting in 17th place and holes 16-18 left to play in round two. He pared the final three holes Saturday morning to set at 1-under for the tournament with one round left to play. The 3-round event is being played at Mission Inn Resort - El Campeon and includes 107 golfers.
Campbell posted a first-round 74 (+2), putting him in a tie for 50th place after the first 18 holes.
In the second round, Campbell shot 3-under par including a front nine that produced three birdies and six pars. He started the back nine with three straight pars, then a bogey on 13, a birdie on 14, and then closed out with four pars to finish the back nine even. The 3-under par score for round two marks Campbell's best round of a total five rounds played in the NCAA D2 Regionals over the last two years. His previous low region round was Thursday's 2-over par.
The final round will be a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. Central.
To advance to the NCAA D2 Men's Golf National Championship Tournament, Campbell must finish as one of two individuals in the regional not on an advancing team. Friday's second round gives the senior golfer a shot on the last day to become Union's first ever NCAA D2 National Championship final site participant.
