JACKSON, Tenn. –
Colby Davis finished 3-3 with two steals and
Dyllon Barrett reached base four times, but the Union University baseball team fell to Arkansas Tech 9-3 on Tuesday afternoon at Fesmire Field in the final midweek action of 2025 for both squads.

Seventeen Bulldogs reached safely between hits (12), walks (four), and a hit by pitch, but Union's basepath traffic materialized into no runs in the game's final eight innings. Union (20-27, 14-15) claimed a 3-2 lead after a four-hit bottom of the first, but Arkansas Tech (26-19) regained its advantage for good with two runs in each of the third, fourth, and eighth innings. Union chased ATU starter Ashton Greenlee from the game after one inning of work but couldn't crack any of the half-dozen Wonder Boy relievers.

Davis opened the game for Union with a hit and a stolen base, singled again in the second inning, and recorded a third knock and a second steal in the fourth before his day ended when
Matthew Autry replaced him in center field to begin the fifth. Davis has reached base in a team-best 13 straight games and sits third in the GSC with 19 stolen bases in 20 attempts.

Barrett, the GSC on-base leader, upped his rate to .488 with two hits and two walks in five plate appearances and his season's 13th multi-hit game.

Hudson Cepparulo, who finished 2-3, was responsible for Union's lone extra-base hit, a leadoff double in the third inning that would never become a run. Cepparulo advanced to third on a
Joseph Hufstedler sacrifice before being caught between third and home following a flyout to the right fielder. Cepparulo's double, his ninth, ties him for the team lead.

Arkansas Tech out-hit Union 14-12 and coaxed three more walks, but the visitors, too, recorded just one extra base hit, a two-RBI double by Sawyer Duddleston in the fourth inning that gave ATU a 6-3 edge. Duddleston finished with two hits and two walks, Tyler Sardelli finished 3-4 with a walk, and four other Wonder Boys logged multi-hit outings.

Union fell to 0-10 in action against Arkansas Tech since 2019. The Bulldogs are now 3-15 when allowing nine or more runs, 3-16 when scoring three or fewer, and 0-7 when doing both. Tuesday's action lasted 3:09.

Union, riding a streak of four GSC series wins, will conclude the 2025 regular season against Christian Brothers with a single game on Friday (6:00 p.m.) and a Saturday doubleheader (1:00 p.m.) at Fesmire Field.
