TUNICA RESORTS, Miss. - The Union University men's golf team started hot, but moved into a tie for sixth place after the first round of the
2025 Gulf South Conference Men's Golf Championship. The 3-round event is being played at the Tunica National Golf and Tennis Club, featuring nine teams with 45 golfers.

After the first nine holes of the day, Union combined for eight birdies and two eagles and found themselves in first after nine holes. However, the wind picked up later in the day, making conditions more difficult. Union closed out the back nine with a combined four birdies and one eagle.
Andrew Westmoreland and
Trace Robinson led Union in 13th place with scores of 2-over par. Robinson recoded one of the team's three eagles on the day.
Gray Campbell sits in 22nd place (+3), while
Timothy Pinkston is 32nd (+6) and
Kip Patterson is 37th (+8).
Union is 16 shots behind the leader West Florida. The Argos are the only team below par for the event at 3-under. Tj Thompson of West Florida leads the event at 2-under. Five other golfers are at 1-under.
The
second round is set for Friday, with Union's first golfer to tee off at 8:20 on hole 10. The remaining four Union golfers will go ever 10 minutes off of hole 10.
