BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Union University baseball's Carter Daniel has been named GSC Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
 
Daniel held West Alabama to one run on six hits through seven innings, his career-long appearance, in the teams' series opener on March 28. Union won the game 6-2 and went on to win its first GSC series of the season over the Tigers. 
 
Daniel, a right-hander from Killen, Alabama, joins Hudson Cepparulo (Feb. 4) as the second Bulldog in the 2025 season to claim the weekly honor.
 
Through 28.2 innings in 10 outings, the freshman hurler has struck out 21.
 
The Bulldogs (13-20, 7-13) will continue GSC play this weekend at Fesmire Field. Game one between Union and the UAH Chargers (14-18, 7-14) is set for 6:00 p.m. Friday and will be followed by a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader Saturday.
