TRAVELERS REST, S.C. - The Union University women's golf team placed first in the Trailblazer Spring Invitational hosted by North Greenville University on Mar. 24-25. The team shot a total of 648 in the win, and three Lady Bulldogs finished in the top 10, including
Abigail Fernandez,
Brooklyn Verdugo, and
Aubrey Payne.
Fernandez led Union with a second-place finish, shooting 156 overall and finishing 12 over par. Verdugo ended the tournament with a fifth-place finish after shooting 159 (+15), and Payne tied for eighth place with a score of 164 (+20).
Olivia Carroll rounded out the field for Union as she tied for sixteenth with a score of 169 (+25).Â
Ohio Dominican's Sydney Devore placed first in the tournament individually, shooting 154 (+10). Ohio Dominican also placed second as a team, just behind Union with a score of 652. North Greenville, Converse, and Mars Hill rounded out the top five.
Up next, the Lady Bulldogs will travel to Tunica Resorts, Miss., to compete in the Gulf South Conference Championships at Tunica National Golf and Tennis Club on Apr. 17-19.
