JACKSON, Tenn. – The #9/17 Valdosta State Blazers used a 20-0 second-half run to spoil the Bulldogs' best shooting night of Gulf South Conference play and defeat Union 106-100 in the Fred DeLay Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
CJ Jackson scored 30 in the loss–two points off his season-high–and the Bulldogs, who remain seventh in the conference standings with two games to play, dropped to 12-14 (8-12 GSC).
Union held its largest lead in the blisteringly offensive affair with a 46-36 advantage late in the first half and took a 52-49 margin to the locker room. The Blazers (21-4, 16-3), who have broken 100 on seven occasions and scored 90 points 18 times, won the second period 57-48. Both teams were 19-34 (.559) and made five threes in the second half; the margin was in VSU's 14 made free throws (14-17) to Union's five (5-8).
