CLEVELAND, Miss.— Union University men's basketball opened Gulf South Conference play with a strong road win Thursday night, taking down Delta State 84–78 inside Walter Sillers Coliseum. The Bulldogs move to 4–2 overall and 1–0 in league play.
Union's offense clicked from the start, shooting 53 percent from the field and dominating the paint with 54 points inside. Terrence Ringo Jr. powered the Bulldogs with a game-high 32 points, finishing an efficient 14–19 from the floor while adding seven rebounds and five assists.
Will Lovings-Watts delivered a massive double-double of his own, posting 26 points and 11 rebounds, including a key stretch of second-half free throws where he knocked down nine free throws after the break to help Union maintain control late.
Mason McBride added nine points and three assists, while Jamiir Allen contributed 10 points and five assists. Union's defensive pressure created separation throughout the night, scoring 12 fast-break points and converting Delta State's mistakes into timely baskets.
The Bulldogs led 36–31 at halftime and pushed their advantage to as many as 12 midway through the second half. Delta State closed the gap in the final minutes, but clutch finishes from Ringo Jr. and Lovings-Watts at the line secured the conference-opening victory.
