JACKSON, Tenn. – Union University men's basketball took Alabama-Huntsville, the nation's No. 6 team, to the wire on Thursday night in the Fred DeLay Gymnasium, but the Chargers won their 12th straight contest after securing a final lead with a Blake Campbell three-pointer in the waning seconds.
 
As the tightly contested game, which featured 12 lead changes and nine ties, approached its conclusion, Union was well-positioned to consummate the upset bid–the Bulldogs led 81-79 with a quarter-minute to play–before Campbell's heave flipped the advantage and cemented the 82-81 final. The UAH graduate guard finished with 22 points on 9-14 shooting.
 
Union's Jeremiah Littlepage and Parker Applegate turned in double-doubles in the losing effort. Littlepage scored a career-high 27 points, shooting 11-14 from the floor, while Applegate, who shot 5-5 from three, tallied 23 points and 12 rebounds.

For the first time since a March 2022 affair with Montevallo, Union finished perfect from the free throw line. The Bulldogs sunk 12 of 12 tries from the stripe, while Littlepage and Kaleim Taylor both finished 4-4.

CJ Jackson chipped in 13 points, his 11th game of the season in double-figures.
 
UAH (12-1) leads the conference and is perfect through seven conference contests. Union falls to 7-5 (3-3) and has dropped three straight. Thursday's heartbreaker may feel tragically familiar to supporters of the Bulldogs, who lost last time out to Montevallo when the Falcons took a late lead on a three-pointer. 
 
Union will remain at home for a meeting with West Alabama on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
