Olivia Lee scores 500th career point and Jeremia Montgomery grabs 500th career rebound in 77-59 win over Trevecca

JACKSON, Tenn. - On Saturday afternoon, the No. 11/15 Union University women's basketball team got back on track after Thursday's loss with a 77-59 victory over Trevecca Nazarene University. This was Union's league-best tenth conference victory so far this season. The Lady Bulldogs sit in first place in the GSC standings with a 10-1 conference record (15-3 overall), while the Trojans drop to 3-8 in the GSC (6-11 overall).

Coming into the game on Saturday, Olivia Lee needed 15 points to reach 500 for her career, and Jeremia Montgomery, who reached 1,000 career points earlier in the season, needed two rebounds to grab 500 for her career in that category. Both players earned those milestones in the second half of the contest and then surpassed them.

The first half was all Trojans as they held the lead for six minutes in the first quarter and the whole ten minutes of the second, outscoring Union 35-30 and outshooting them 55.6 percent to 28.2 percent from the field.

However, the Lady Bulldogs turned it around in the third quarter by scoring 29 points, which almost doubled their total from the entire first half. Olivia Lee was a big part of the onslaught, scoring 11 points in less than two minutes. Her three-pointer at the 1:40 second mark gave her exactly 500 career points and put the exclamation mark on her scoring run. Union added another 18 points in the fourth quarter to seal the 18-point win.

Olivia Lee led Union with 22 points, 9-15 shooting from the field, and 4-6 shooting from beyond the arc. Her 22 points and nine field goals were career highs, and her four three-pointers tied the career high she set last season on Jan. 12, 2024, at Lee University.

Jazalyn Anousinh joined Olivia Lee in double-digits with 10 points. She also tied Montgomery for the most assists with four. Olivia Lee, Keisharna Lucas, and Montgomery each had four boards in the game. Courtney Zensen grabbed three steals, and Macey Lee had Union's two blocks. Overall, the Lady Bulldogs shot 35.8 percent (29-81) from the field, 25 percent (11-44) from three-point range, and 100 percent (8-8) from the foul line.

Trevecca's Cheyenne Trotter had a double-double in the game, scoring 16 points and grabbing 15 rebounds, both of which were team highs. As a team, the Trojans shot 52 percent (26-50) from the field, 23.5 percent (4-17) from behind the arc, and 50 percent (3-6) from the free throw line.

Up next, the Lady Bulldogs will travel to Clinton, Miss., for their second game of the season against Mississippi College. Tipoff is scheduled for Jan. 23 at 5:30 p.m.
