JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union volleyball team is set to open its 2024 season as host of the Sept. 6-7 Union University Volleyball Classic, a nine-match event welcoming Limestone, Harding, Missouri-St. Louis and Carson-Newman.

Limestone, a member of the South Atlantic Conference, landed eighth of 13 in the SAC preseason voting following a 10-12 (8-10) season. 

Lady Saint outside hitters Mia McMillen (#1) and Tatum Riddle (#19) have been named to the Preseason All-SAC Second Team.


Union vs. Missouri-St. Louis | Friday, Sept. 6 | 6:00 p.m. | Fred DeLay Gymnasium

Coming off a 34-2 (13-0) 2023 campaign that ended in the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament, UMSL is ranked #6 in the AVCA preseason poll. From Oct. 13 to Nov. 17 of 2023, UMSL won 36 of 38 sets.

UMSL returns reigning GLVC Player of the Year and 2023 First Team All-American Caitlin Bishop (#5), who led Division II in total assists (1,525) and finished second in assists per set (12.50).

14th-year head coach Ryan Young leads UMSL with a career record of 264-132 (667) and has taken his team to four straight NCAA Tournaments.

UMSL took a 3-2 decision over Union in 2019.


Union vs. Carson-Newman | Saturday, Sept. 7 | Noon | Fred DeLay Gymnasium

Carson-Newman, a league opponent of Limestone, has been picked to finish fifth in the SAC preseason poll.

2023 ended for the Lady Eagles at 14-17 (11-7) in the conference championship quarterfinals.

Union defeated Carson-Newman in five sets in 2021.


Union vs. Harding | Saturday, Sept. 7 | 4:00 p.m. | Fred DeLay Gymnasium

Harding, a 2023 GAC regular season co-champion at 19-11 (13-3), took third in its preseason conference poll, earning three first-place votes. 

The Lady Bisons return OH Skyler McKinnon (#11), an All-GAC Second Team selection a season ago.

Union is 1-6 against Harding since 2012, including a three-set defeat at the 2023 Patriot Classic.

Coach Meredith Fear is 263-95 (.735) through 12 seasons with the school.
