JACKSON, Tenn. - Union softball's Lainey Baker has been named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Pitcher of the Week for the week ending Mar. 31.

Baker, a 5-foot-9 sophomore from Cartersville, Ga., pitched a complete game shutout in Union's game one win over Henderson State University this week. She struck out seven batters, allowing only one hit, and was five outs away from a perfect game, until she hit her only batter in the bottom of the sixth.

Up next, Baker and the Lady Bulldogs travel to Pensacola, Fla., for a three-game series with GSC opponent the University of West Florida. Games one and two are scheduled to be played on Apr. 5 with a start time of 1:00 p.m.
