Cauble scores season high 23 points in win over Montevallo

JACKSON, Tenn. - On Feb. 17, the No. 7/15 Union University women's basketball team defeated the University of Montevallo 73-50. The Lady Bulldogs are now 24-2 overall (18-2 GSC), while the Falcons fall to 13-11 overall (11-10 GSC).

Leah Cauble led Union with 23 points in the game. This is a season high for her, and one point shy of tying her career high 24 points in a game, which came at home on Nov. 23, 2019, against the University of West Florida.

The Lady Bulldogs were down 21-13 after the first quarter but outscored the Falcons 18-12 in the second to pull to within two points at halftime. Union scored 22 points in the third and 20 points in the fourth to seal the victory.

Shanique Lucas and Olivia Lee joined Cauble in double digit points with 16 and 10, respectively. Lee also led the team in rebounds with seven, and Jazalyn Anousinh collected the most assists with six. The Lady Bulldogs shot 45.5 percent (25-55) from the field, 40 percent (12-30) from three-point range, and 73.3 percent (11-15) from the free throw line.

Marisa Snodgrass led Montevallo with 15 points and four assists. The Falcons shot 28.1 percent (16-57) from the field, 28 percent (7-25) from three-point range, and 57.9 percent (11-19) from the free throw line.

Up next, the Lady Bulldogs go on the road to face the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Tip off is scheduled for Feb. 22 at 5:30 p.m.
