Marie Torosian,
Ashley Pruitt, and
Hope Harrington have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Volleyball Team. This is the second straight CSC Academic All-District award for Owens, Torosian, and Harrington, and Pruitt's first.
This award is made up of members from institutions affiliated with NAIA, NCAA DI, NCAA DII, and NCAA DIII. Student-athletes that have earned this award show great achievement in the classroom with a GPA of 3.5 or higher and are a significant contributor on their team. They also have to be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically.
Owens, a 5-foot-10 senior outside hitter from Jonesboro, Ark., earned Second Team All-GSC for Union this season. She competed in 111 sets, accumulating 309 kills, 23 assists, 49 service aces, 353 digs, and 39 blocks. She also passed 500 career digs during the season.
Torosian, a 5-foot-10 junior outside hitter and defensive specialist from Hoffman Estates, Ill., played in 107 sets, collecting 188 kills, 30 assists, 40 service aces, 299 digs, and 28 blocks.
Pruitt, a 5-foot-9 sophomore setter from Memphis, Tenn., competed in 113 sets with 43 kills, 837 assists, 26 service aces, 214 digs, and 12 blocks. She also passed 500 career assists during the season.
Harrington, a 6-foot senior middle blocker from Spokane, Wash., played in 113 sets, accumulating 155 kills, 13 assists, 28 service aces, 58 digs, and 59 blocks.
