BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Union University women's soccer players Lucia Revuelto and Irene Arias have been named to the All-GSC Second Team, the league office announced Friday.

Revuelto and Arias, a pair of sophomore Spaniards, have been instrumental pieces in Union's success this season. The Lady Bulldogs (9-4-2, 8-2-2) claimed third place in the conference–their highest finish to date–and will host Delta State in the first round of the conference tournament on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Through just 803 minutes played over 13 games (12 starts), Revuelto has set Union's GSC-era record in assists with seven and finished tied atop the GSC in the category. She's also scored five goals, thereby leading the team in points with 17.

Revuelto contributed at least a goal or an assist in seven of Union's eight games and eight of the first 10. In the Lady Bulldogs' opener at Harding, Revuelto posted one of her two multi-assist games; the second would come later that month at Mississippi College. On October 18, in Union's 3-2 win over Spring Hill, Revuelto recorded a brace. Her mark of 1.31 points per game is fourth-best in the GSC.

Arias, who logged 1047 minutes on a Union backline that shut out five opponents, also scored three goals–in the same weekend. In an October 25 affair at Valdosta State, Arias scored twice for Union, and just two days later, she notched the game-winner in Union's win over AUM. Arias was awarded the TSWA Player of the Week honor for her efforts.

Union, experiencing its winningest season since transitioning to the NCAA, now begins to press for postseason success. The Lady Bulldogs, ranked sixth in Wednesday's South Region ranking, host Delta State on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Tickets are a courtesy of West Tennessee Bank.
