BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Forward Cillian Heaney of the Union University men's soccer team has been named to the All-GSC Second Team, the league office announced Thursday.
 
The Westport, Ireland, native scored five goals and tallied three assists while leading the team with 17 shots on goal. He started all 17 games for the Bulldogs, logging 1429 minutes.
 
Heaney posted a five-point night on October 10 when he collected two goals and an assist against Tougaloo College. In a 3-1 season-opening win at Harding, he scored Union's first goal of the year. When the Bulldogs drew with Christian Brothers to begin the GSC schedule, it was Heaney who set up Union's equalizing goal.
 
Heaney, a sophomore, began his collegiate career as a Division I player at the University of Nebraska Omaha, where he appeared in 16 matches for the Mavericks and recorded an assist.
