SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Union University men's basketball dropped to 4-1 on Tuesday night, falling to Drury 91-69 in the Bulldogs' first of two games at the DoubleTree Thanksgiving Classic, hosted by the Panthers.
Parker Applegate ended the first half with 10 rebounds and finished with 17, the most in a game by a Bulldog since the sophomore forward also grabbed 17 against Delta State on January 22.
Four Bulldogs scored in double-figures, as
Kaleim Taylor and
Jeremiah Littlepage had 14 apiece,
CJ Jackson scored 13, and
Judson Bjornstad tallied 11. Tuesday was the fourth double-figure scoring night for each of Taylor, Littlepage and Jackson through five games.
Drury (3-1) held a 52-42 lead at the break after shooting 62.5% (10-16) from behind the arc in the first half.
Union only attempted five free throws on the night, the fewest in a game since the Bulldogs shot just four against North Georgia on November 29, 2022. Drury was awarded just nine.
Drury outshot Union in the contest 54.5% to 43.9% overall and 50.0% to 33.3% on three-pointers.
Union will take the floor again tomorrow in its final game of the Classic against Illinois-Springfield (2-2). Tipoff is scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
