NASHVILLE, Tenn. - On Nov. 19, the Union University women's volleyball team appeared in the first round of the Gulf South Conference tournament. The Lady Bulldogs faced Trevecca Nazarene University and lost 3-1 (25-23, 25-21, 22-25, 25-16). With the loss, Union drops to 10-20 overall (8-12 GSC), while Trevecca improves to 14-18 (10-10 GSC).
The Lady Bulldogs did not go down without a fight as they forced the match to four sets with a 25-22 third set win. Trevecca was able to outhit the Lady Bulldogs with 48 kills to Union's 43. The Lady Trojans also led in digs, assists, and aces with 68, 43, and seven, respectively. However, Union was about to out-block Trevecca 10 to 9.
Seniors, Reese Owens and Vanja Stefanovic led the team in kills with 10 and nine, respectively. Jordan Moore also had a good day at the net with six blocks. Freshman setter, Abby Davis led in assists with 17, followed by Ashley Pruitt with 16. Dylan Tolliver was first in digs for Union with 16.
Reese Owens was named to the 2024 Second Team All-GSC to finish the season.
