Jeremia Montgomery were named to the GSC Women's Basketball Newcomer Watchlist.
"We are really excited about this team," said head coach
Mark Campbell, who is in his 26th season at the helm of the program. "We have half our team coming back and the other half is new. These new additions fit who we are perfectly. Â We have four transfers that bring a wealth of experience at all levels as each one of them has demonstrated an ability to be effective right away. They also bring with them the right attitude to play at Union. Our four freshmen have also smoothly transitioned. If we measure success rightly, this group has the potential to be excellent in every way. Â We are thankful for the opportunity with this group."
Lee University was picked second in the poll after receiving four first-place votes and 114 total points. Valdosta State, the 2023-24 regular season and tournament champion, was chosen third with 89 points. West Florida and Auburn Montgomery took the fourth and fifth spots with 87 points and 78 points, respectively.
Delta State and Trevecca Nazarene, a newcomer to the GSC this season, tied for the sixth slot in the poll, receiving 60 points each. Mississippi College finished out the top eight with 58 points.
The Lady Bulldogs will open their season as part of Union's homecoming on Oct. 26 in Fred DeLay Gymnasium against the University of Tennessee Southern at 4:00 p.m.
