JACKSON, Tenn. - On Oct. 10, the Union University volleyball team fought hard in fast-paced match against the University of Alabama in Huntsville, ultimately losing 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-16). Union's overall record is now 4-11 (2-4 GSC), while UAH's overall record is 15-2 (6-1 GSC).
In the first set, the Lady Bulldogs overcame a deficit of 9-2 by scoring eight straight points to go ahead 10-9. Later on in the set, Union led by three points, 17-14, but could not hang on as the Chargers took the first set 25-19. In the second set, the Lady Bulldogs stayed with UAH but were not able to take a lead, losing 25-20. The third set ended 25-16 in favor of the Chargers.
Reese Owens led Union in kills with 13, followed by
Vanja Stefanovic and
Marie Torosian with eight and six, respectively. Torosian served the most aces with three, while
Jordan Moore put up the most blocks with two.
Ashley Pruitt collected 21 assists to lead the team, and
Dylan Tolliver topped the digs category with 14.
Up next, the Lady Bulldogs play at home against the University of Montevallo on Oct. 11 at 6:00 p.m.
