CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The Union University softball team posted a doubleheader split Saturday at Lee University. Union won the first game 3-2 and then lost 7-0 in the second game. Union improved to 23-16 overall and 13-8 in the Gulf South Conference. Lee moved to 10-31 on the season and 5-17 in league play.Â
In the first game, Union scored three runs, all coming with two outs in the top of the seventh to rally for the win. After two groundouts to open the inning, Union's offense went to work. After
Macey Neal singled,
Idalia Alarcon homered to left to put Union up 2-1.
Courtney Marler later doubled in what proved to be the winning run, scoring
Zoey Neal. Lee added a tally in the bottom of the seventh, but Union held on for the 3-2 win.
Riley Vaughn (12-6) earned the complete game victory, allowing six hits, two runs with eight walks and eight strikeouts.

Game two was all Lee after six runs in the third put the game way. Union was out hit 14-3 in the loss.

Emily Claire Felder (5-3) tossed 2.1 innings, allowing nine hits, six runs, three walks, and a strikeout.
Addison Abell and
Kira Finkley tossed the final 3.2 innings of relief, holding Lee to one run.Â
The teams will decide the series April 16 at noon central.Â
