JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University baseball team lost a non-conference matchup at home against the University of Arkansas Monticello Tuesday afternoon, 10-3. Union moved to 9-21 overall on the season while Arkansas Monticello improved to 18-12 on the season.
Arkansas Monticello jumped out to an early lead in the second inning as their Parker Dorrance on a ground ball by Alex Austin. They continued their momentum in the fourth inning, scoring two more runs. In the top half of the sixth inning, Arkansas Monticello scored four runs, the most in any inning. Union started to chip away at the lead in the bottom half of the inning as
Mitch Sisk scored on single by
Grant Ross. Union rallied in the bottom of the ninth but came up short resulting in a final score of 10-3.
Eli Snelson led Union going 2-for-2. Ross (0-1) started on the mound for the Bulldogs. He threw three innings, giving up three runs on one hit, and striking out three. Four other bulldogs threw in relief.
Up next for Union is a non-conference matchup against Lane College Dragons. This game will be played at the Ballpark at Jackson and is set to take place on April, 4 at 6 p.m.
