JACKSON, Tenn. - Union basketball plays its first home games of the new calendar year this week. Less than two month remain in the regular season and only GSC games remain on the schedule.Union will host Shorter University Thursday and then Lee University Saturday.  

MEN'S BASKETBALL is currently one game out of first place in the GSC standings at 7-3 in league play, 8-6 overall. Union enters this week having lost twice last week, snapping a 5-game winning streak. Union has won two straight at Fred DeLay Gymnasium.

Union will host Shorter Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Union is 16-3 versus Shorter since the two teams joined the GSC in 2012. Shorter is 3-11 overall and 1-9 in league play.

Union will then host Lee Saturday at 4 p.m. Union is 7-10 versus Lee since the Flames joined the GSC. Lee is 9-2 overall and 8-2 in league play, tied for first. 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL is 10-2 on the season and 8-2 in the GSC, while currently riding a five game winning streak. Union is ranked No. 19 in the latest WBCA national poll. 

Union will host Shorter Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Union is 15-3 versus Montevallo since the two teams joined the GSC in 2012. Shorter is 1-12 overall and 1-9 in GSC play.

Union will then host Lee, Saturday, at 2 p.m. Union is 15-8 versus Lee since the Lady Flames joined the GSC. Lee is 12-2 overall and 10-0 in GSC play entering this week. Lee is No. 16 in the D2SIDA media poll and receiving votes in the WBCA poll and are leading the GSC.
