LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The Union University men's basketball team dropped a road game against the University of West Alabama Saturday night with the final score being Union 69, West Alabama 77. The Bulldogs fall to 8-5 overall on the season and 7-2 in the Gulf South Conference. West Alabama improved to 11-2 overall and 6-2 in league play.
In the first half, West Alabama came out on shooting going on a 10-3 run in the first three minutes of the game. This would be their biggest lead of the half as the Bulldogs fought back tying the game up four different times. A layup by
Dusan Djordjevic with 4:40 left gave Union their first lead of the game. This lead went on to be short lived as West Alabama finished the first half on top 42-37.
The second half was much like the first as West Alabama controlled the floor. Union trailed the whole half, the biggest deficit they faced was 14. Union was outshot 39 percent to the Tiger's 52 percent.
Tylandrius Parks led the team for Union with 29 points and eight rebounds going 9-17 from the field and an impressive 9-11 from the charity stripe.
West Alabama had five players in double figures. Allen Shardarrion led the tigers with 18 points and five rebounds.
Up next for Union is a road game in Huntsville Alabama as they take on the Chargers of the University of Alabama Huntsville. This game is set to take place Monday, January 2 at 4:00 p.m.
