Box Score TUSKEGEE, Ala. - The Union University men's basketball team lost 71-67 at Tuskegee University Friday night to open the 2022-23 season. This game was a part of the crossover class hosted by Tuskegee also including Lane College and Shorter University. Union will face Lane Saturday at 1 p.m.
Union led Tuskegee by as many as 15 points in the first half and held a nine-point lead at the break. Tuskegee put up 44 second half points to rally and take a 61-60 lead. It was Tuskegee's first lead since 2-0. Union led once more in the game before Tuskegee took the lead for good.Â
The Bulldogs shot 50 percent from the field in the first half but struggled in the second half. After hitting six first half 3-pointers, Union was just 2-of-10 in the second half. Union finished the game at 45 percent from the field and 35 percent (8-23) from long range. Union also hit just 13-of-20 (.650) from the free throw line.Â
Union outshot Tuskegee from the field, but struggled to protect the ball, committing 24 turnovers in the game.Â
Tylandrius Parks led Union with 21 points and eight rebounds.
Boe Nguidjol and
Justin Debuck added 11 points each.Â
Tuskegee was led by D'Anthony Pennington with 22 points and Reco Hallmon with 19 points. Both players had just seven points at the half but combined for 22 second half points to spark the rally. The Golden Tigers committed 12 turnovers.Â
