JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University women's basketball is listed among eight teams on the NCAA D2 Women's Basketball Region Rankings. This is the first of three region rankings that will determine at-large participation in the 2021 NCAA D2 Women's Basketball National Tournament. Due to the limited data available at this time, the schools are listed in alphabetical order for this ranking. 

Union is one of five Gulf South Conference schools listed in the region rankings. The other three teams are from the Peach Belt Conference. The Sunshine State Conference only has three teams (Florida Tech, Florida Southern, Barry) that have declared intentions to play NCAA postseason this year, but none of those are ranked at this point. 

With the uncertainty of COVID and with teams playing different amounts of games at this point, the NCAA is putting out consideration lists for the region without ranking the teams. The list is in alphabetical order. 

Another change in the region rankings this year is that with many teams opting out of playing, the regions have been re-structured to try and create as even-numbered regions as possible. So, the South region will not include any SIAC teams and will instead (for this year only) include teams from the Peach Belt Conference. The SIAC teams still playing have been moved to a different reach for this season.

Also, the NCAA has reduced the number of regional teams from eight (8) to six (6) for this season only. 

The women's basketball south region tournament will be hosted by North Georgia College, March 12-15.
