JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University men's basketball team posted a 92-71 win over Shorter University Saturday afternoon at Fred DeLay Gymnasium/David Blackstock Court. Union improved to 8-0 overall and 2-0 in the Gulf South Conference. ShorterÂ
Union is ranked No. 18 in the D2SIDA Media Poll and is one spot out of the NABC Coaches Top-25 in the No. 26 spot.Â
Union dominated a 10-minute stretch that spanned the last six minutes of the first half and the first four minutes of the second half, outscoring Shorter 34-8. Union went from a 3-point lead to a 17-point halftime lead, to its largest lead of 31 points during that stretch.Â

Union scored first and pushed out to an 11-2 lead.
Tyree Boykin's 3-pointer at the 14:17 mark gave Union its first double-digit lead at 16-4. Boykin scored 12 of Union's first 18 points.Â
Union extended its lead to 22-6. Shorter then posted an 18-5 run, including 11 straight points from Ralph Barnett. Barnett's third 3-pointer of the half at the 6:21 mark cut the Union lead to just three points, 27-24.Â
The Bulldogs stopped the Shorter run and closed the half with a 16-2 run, including a
Hunter Vick 3-pointer at the buzzer. Union held its largest lead of the half, 43-26, going into the locker room.
Momentum stayed with Union early in the second half.
Hunter Vick gave
Jeremiah Littlepage a perfect alley-oop pass for a dunk to open play. Union posted an 18-4 run over the first five minutes of the half. Union led 61-30 following a 3-point play from Boykin. Union maintained a lead in the 20's for the remainder of the game.
Union was led by Boykin with 22 points. Vick scored 18 points,
JC Clausi added 13, and
Tylandrius Parks scored 10. Union shot 49 percent from the field, 28 percent (8-29) from long range, and 84 percent (16-19) from the free throw line.Â
Shorter was led by Barnett with 15 points and Shripshire with 12 points. The Hawks shot 48 percent from the field, 30 percent (6-20), and 70 percent (7-10) from the free throw line.Â
