CARROLLTON, Ga. - The Union University men's basketball team posted an 86-70 win at the University of West Georgia Friday afternoon. Union improved to 12-2 overall and 6-0 in the Gulf South Conference. West Georgia dropped to 4-8 on the season and 1-4 in league play.
Union led by as many as 16 points in the first half and took a 42-31 lead into halftime. West Georgia fought back in the second half and cut the lead to just two points, 61-59, with 7:35 left to play. Union outscored West Georgia 25-11 in the remaining minutes to secure the 86-70 win.
Union was led by
Boe Nguidjol with 26 points and eight rebounds. Nguidjol's 26 points was the first 20-point performance of his career.
Tyree Boykin scored 21 points.
Jeremiah Littlepage had 10 points and eight rebounds.
Tylandrius Parks led with five assists. Union shot 50 percent from the field, 46 percent (11-24) from long range, and 63 percent (19-30) from the free throw line.
West Georgia was led by Michael Zabetakis with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Kadeim Jones scored 17 points. The Wolves shot 40 percent from the field, 29 percent (6-21) from 3-point range, and 70 percent (14-20) from the free throw line.
Union will be back at Fred DeLay Gymnasium, Blackstock Court Saturday, January 8 at 4:00 p.m. for a GSC matchup again Auburn Montgomery.
