Union men fall on the road at McKendree 80-67

LEBANON, Ill. - The Union University men's basketball team dropped its second game of the season Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference game at McKendree University. Union dropped to 9-2 on the season, while McKendree improved to 5-2. 
This marked the final non-conference regular season game of the year. Union resumes conference play Saturday, December 18 at Mississippi College and will play league games for the remainder of the regular season. Union is currently 3-0 in league play. 
Union trailed most of the first half but did have a few small leads. Union's largest lead was 28-25 with six minutes left in the first half. McKendree used a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer to take a 38-34 lead at the break. 
Union's Boe Nguidjol scored to open the second half to get with two. However, McKendree made back-to-back 3-pointers and a couple of free throws to jump out to a 10-point lead.
A 3-point play by Tyree Boykin pulled Union to withing five points, 65-60 with 5:21 left to play. Again, McKendree used the 3-pointer to cushion its lead. McKendree made a season high 11 3-pointers in the win. The 13-point final margin was the largest of afternoon for the Bearcats. 
Union was led by Boykin and JC Clausi with 15 points. Hunter Vick scored 11 points. Union shot 38 percent from the field, 29 percent (5-17) from 3-point range, and 78 percent (14-18) from the free throw line.
McKendree was led by Bryson Bultman and Carson Parker with 17 points each. Oliver Stephen added, while Aleksandar Davikov and CaRondis Harris-Anderson scored 10 each. The Bearcats shot 50 percent from the field, 50 percent (11-22) from long range, and 65 percent (13-20) from the free throw line.
