JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University women's basketball team posted an 84-56 win over the University of Tennessee Southern Saturday at Fred DeLay Gymnasium/David Blackstock Court. 

Union led 44-26 at the half. Union shot 52 percent from the field, including 44 percent (14-32) from long range. 

Newcomer Ashtyn Baker led Union with 24 points including six 3-pointers. She added 10 rebounds also. Jaelencia Williams added 20 points and 17 rebounds. Shanique Lucas scored 12 points. Ten Union players scored in the game, including seven with at least one made 3-pointer. 

UT Southern was led by Sherrow with 24 points and nine rebounds. The FireHawks hit 7-of-26 from long range. 

Up next for Union will be its regular-season opener, a road trip to Tampa, Florida for the Crossover Classic. Union plays Florida Tech Friday, November 12 at 3:30 p.m. central time and then host and No. 11/16 Tampa Saturday at 2 p.m.
