Union women's soccer closes season with big win at Christian Brothers, 1-0

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Union University women's soccer team posted a 1-0 win at Christian Brothers University Thursday night. Union ended its season 4-11 overall and 4-9 in the Gulf South Conference. Christian Brothers improved to 8-7-2 on the season and 6-5-2 in league play.
Union will not advance to the GSC Tournament, needing to finish in the top eight. Christian Brothers had already clinched a spot next week's tournament, however, its seeding was dropped to No. 8 after the loss to Union.
Union's interim head coach Anna Hardin said after the win, "All season the team has been working hard on improving our style of play. Tonight, we were able to put it into action which led to a fantastic goal from Victoria (Seymour). During the game, we were able to keep increasing the intensity when it would have been easier to sit back and relax. The entire team did their job defensively against a well-organized CBU team which helped us secure the win. I am very proud of how much our team has improved each game this season. We are excited to keep growing as a team in the offseason."
The first and only goal of the match came in the 16th minute of play from Union sophomore, Victoria Seymour. Holly Trisdale recorded the assist.
Christian Brothers outshot Union 7-5 in the first half and dominated the second half shots 12-0. For the match, CBU led 19-5 in shots, including 7-2 in shots on goal.
Seymour led Union with two shots. Bryson Lee had six saves in her third shutout of the season. In fact, three of Union's four wins have been 1-0 shutout victories. Lee played all but 91 minutes in goal this season, totaling 1,268 minutes, starting all 15 matches.
