Bulldogs fall to Bison in midweek match up

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University baseball team fell 14-2 Tuesday afternoon at Fesmire Field in a midweek matchup against the Bison of Harding University. Union dropped to 8-13 overall. Harding, coming out of the Great American Conference, improved to 18-6 on the season.
 
The game started with an early run by the Bison in the first thanks to a double to left center with a runner on base. Harding would continue the offensive outburst in the top half of the third with a six run inning that would push the score to 7-0. Union scored one run in the third inning. Austin Zeitler hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield to drive in Dacoda Stone for the Bulldogs first run of the game.  The Bison would drive in seven more runs in the game to push the score to 14-1, and in the bottom of the ninth the Bulldogs would scratch across one more when a ground ball from Patrick Music would score Tyler Thomas. The final score would end up 14-2. The Bison had 15 hits to Union's seven in the game.
 
Cooper Bullough was the starting pitcher for the Bulldogs. He allowed eight runs, seven earned in five innings of work. Owen Bartholomew came in relief for one inning. He gave up three runs, three eanred on three hits. Andrey Arnett pitched for two complete innings, giving up three runs, two earned on two hits. Spencer Woods was the final pitcher for Union, pitching one inning, with no runs and no hits.

Music led Union in hits with two in four at-bats and one RBI.
 
Up next for Union is a home GSC doubleheader against the Blazers of Valdosta State. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, March 14.
