Union men fall to No. 22 UAH in second game of series

JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University men's basketball lost 70-67 in their second home game of the year against the University of Alabama in Huntsville Saturday afternoon. Union dropped to 2-2 on the season and 2-2 in the Gulf South Conference – West Division. Alabama Huntsville improved to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the GSC West. 

Union's Hunter Vick made the first bucket for the Bulldogs with a layup that would be followed up by a three-pointer by JC Clausi to start the game at 5-0. The Bulldog's offense would continue to roll with more production from Vick and Clausi, and an outburst of buckets from Dusan Djordjevic. Djordjevic would score three possessions in a row for the Bulldogs, taking them into halftime up three at 38-35. After a jumper by Vick to open up the second half, UAH would go on a 12-0 to start the second half, however, Union stopped the run with a free throw by Jeremiah Littlepage. UAH would go on to win the contest by three after taking it down to the wire.  


Union was led by Vick with 30 points and he also led the team in assists with five and rebound with seven. Dusan Djordjevic had a productive night, scoring 12 points with four rebounds.Freshman Justin Debuck added eight points. Union shot 44 percent (26-58) from the field, 44 percent from long range (12-27), and 50 percent (3-6) from the free-throw line.

Alabama Huntsville was led by Sam Orf with 22 points. Both Max Shulman and Kerney Lane added 11 points. Seth Swalve added 10 points. Shulman led the team in rebounds with 11 giving him a double-double. The Chargers shot 43 percent from the field, 27 percent (9-33) from 3-point range, and 77 percent (7-9) from the free-throw line.
