Union women's basketball falls at UAH

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Union University women's basketball team lost 62-60 against Alabama Huntsville Friday night. Union fell to 2-1 overall and 2-1 in the Gulf South Conference – West Division. The Chargers improved to 2-1 on the season and 2-1 in league play. 

Union led 27-25 at the half, but UAH came out strong in the third quarter outscoring Union 23-15. The Chargers lead by as many as 10 points, 54-44, with 7:23 left in the game. The Lady Bulldogs outscored the Chargers 18-14 in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 60-60, but a layup by UAH's Selena Pruitt with 15 seconds left sealed the win for the Chargers. 
 
Union was led by Jaelencia Williams as she recorded her second double-double of the season with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Kieli Robinson added 12 points and 4 rebounds, while Shanique Lucas added 8 points and 3 rebounds. The Lady Bulldogs shot 44 percent from the field, 28 percent (7-25) from 3-point range, and 64 percent (9-14) from the free throw line.  

UAH was led by Alexis Woods with 18 points and Holly Harris with 16 points. The Chargers shot 40 percent from the field, 45 percent (9-20) from long range, and 88 percent (7-8) from the free throw line. 

Up next for Union will be another road GSC West matchup against the Chargers of UAH, Saturday, December 19 at 3 p.m.
