PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Union University softball team lost 3-0 to the University of West Georgia Friday afternoon in the second day of the 2019 Gulf South Conference Tournament. Seven-seed Union dropped to 30-24 on the season, while sixth-seeded West Georgia improved to 30-26.

It was the first loss of the tournament for Union, dropping the Lady Bulldogs to an elimination game Saturday morning at 9 a.m. vs. four-seed Valdosta State University. The Saturday games are starting at 9 a.m. instead of the originally set 10 a.m. due to incoming rain.

Coming off a dramatic 12-11 win over No. 15 Alabama Huntsville Thursday in eight innings, the Union offense was quite in Friday's game. Union was out hit by West Georgia 8-4 in the loss and was shutout for just the sixth time this season.

West Georgia scored a pair of runs in the third and another in the sixth to earn the win.

Parker Davis (12-9) pitched a complete game, keeping her team in the game for the duration. The junior allowed eight hits, three runs with six strikeouts and no walks.

Union got four hits from four different players, including Alyssa Ward, Kaitlyn Kelley, Sam McDaniel, and Davis.
