ROME, Ga. - The Union University Bulldogs defeated Shorter University 106-70 Saturday afternoon. Union has improved to 7-5 in the Gulf South Conference and 12-8 overall. Shorter fell to 0-11 in conference play and 2-17 overall.
Shorter started the ball game with a four point lead over Union. The two teams continued to swap leads until 10 minutes left in the first half. Union went on a 11-0 run after two made free throws from LiDonta Hicks-Gentry and was able to keep the lead going into the half, 43-35.
Tylandrius Parks and Terrandus Smith dominated the first three minutes of the second half scoring 11 points between the two of them. A three from Hicks-Gentry put Union up by 21 points, 57-36. Union finished the ball game ahead 36 points, 106-70.
Union was led by Parks with 22 points and 11 rebounds, making this his third double-double on the season. Payton Stovall led with 18 points, shooting 4-5 from behind the arc and Samory Gueye with 16 points after shooting 100 percent (3-3) from three.
Shorter was led by Frenki Lilaj with 15 points and Tyler Goodman with 14 points.
Union out rebounded Shorter 48-25. Shorter force 14 Union turnovers while only giving up eight. Union shot 54 percent from three.
