LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama defeated Union University men's soccer 5-0 Friday night.
The Bulldogs are now overall 3-8 and 3-5 in the Gulf South Conference. The West Alabama Tigers improved to 10-2 overall and 6-1 in conference play.
The two teams played evenly through a majority of the first half until the 38th minute, when West Alabama's Gaspard Voituriez-Donnelly scored off an assist by Alvaro Marcias.
At the end of the first half, the score was 1-0.
Union recorded eight shots, while West Alabama had seven shots at the end of the half.
The Tigers scored five minutes into the first half off of a finish by Ali Brador assisted by Alvaro Macias. West Alabama's third goal of the match was by Jean-Baptiste Meyniel and assisted by Cole Webster. Then again in the 78th minute Cole Webster put West Alabama's fourth goal in the back of the net.
The Tigers' last goal was 45 seconds later when Manuel Pereira Castellon finished a goal assisted by Kyle McLeod.
The final score was 5-0.
The Bulldogs were out shot 20-18 for the match.
Union's Casper Nyberg recorded four saves, while West Alabama's Brad Louis had five saves.
