Union falls to #24 Lenoir-Rhyne

Box Score GREENVILLE, Tenn.- The Union University (0-4) women's soccer team dropped their fourth straight game to No. 24 Lenoir-Rhyne (3-1) on Sunday afternoon 6-1.
 
Union fell behind early in the match when the nationally ranked Bears scored in the 3rd minute of play on a goal from Leah Mullins to fall down 1-0. Lenoir-Rhyne would keep that pace up throughout the rest of the first half with four more goals coming in the 9th, 21st, 23rd, and 30th minutes and went into the halftime break leading the Lady Bulldogs 5-0.
 
The Union defense faired a bit better in the second half only allowing one more goal in the 81st minute when Garcelle Alequine scored her third goal for a hat-trick,  her teammate, Mullins, also accomplished the feat with three goals of her own.
 
Union was outshot 28-8 in the game, making their weekend shot differential 56-11 in favor of their opponents. Honeye Heydari, Riley Mushill and Hannah Hillburn each had shots on the goal for the Lady Bulldogs but could not sneak one in to keep Union from the shutout.
 
The Lady Bulldogs have one more road game on their away stretch when they take on Harding University on Friday, September 18th, at 6:00 p.m. in Searcy, Ark. The next home game for Union will be against NCAA Division I opponent Southeast Missouri State on Sunday, September 20th, at 4:00 p.m.
