Union men’s basketball adds six for 2015-16 season

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University men's basketball team has added six players to the roster for the 2015-16 season. Union is coming off an appearance in the 2015 NCAA DII National Tournament after making the South Region Tournament. Union finished tied for third in the Gulf South Conference Tournament.
 
Union head coach David Niven said, "I love this class. We've added some depth and size along with some additional playmakers. We've got a lot of key pieces returning this season and these guys give us a chance to improve on our NCAA tourney run from last season. Competition will be strong at every spot when we get started next month!"
 
New to the team in 2015-16 will be Serigne Mboup (Dakar, Senegal/Austin Peay State), KC Goodwin (Memphis, Tenn./Southern Illinois), Charlie Wilson (Pensacola,Fla./Alabama Southern CC), Aleksander Cosic (Belgrade Serbia/Faith Baptist Christian Academy), Quinn Beasley (Winchester, Ky./Bluegrass United) and Tyler Mosley (Union City, Tenn./Obion Central HS).
 
Mboup transferred to Union from Austin Peay State University where he played for two seasons. As a junior, he played in 21 games averaging one point and one rebound per game. As a sophomore at APSU, he played in 27 games and shot 52 percent (15-29) from the field. Prior to his two years at APSU, he played one season at the New Mexico Military Institute. He played in 21 games, averaging four points and four rebounds per game. Mboup prepped at SEEDS Academy.
 
Goodwin transferred to Union from Southern Illinois University where he played one season of basketball. In 2014-15, Goodwin played in 22 games with six starts. He averaged 2.6 points per game with 21 assists, 38 rebounds and 12 three pointers. He was at SIU in 2013-14 but did not play. Goodwin prepped at Melrose High School in Memphis where he played four seasons of basketball. He helped lead his team to the state title in 2010. 
 
Wilson transferred to Union from Alabama Southern Community College where he played two seasons on basketball. In his freshman season, he made 14 points with 9 rebounds getting him a spot on the all-conference team. Wilson prepped at Pine Forest High School where he played basketball. He lead his team to three district championships, 2013 Regional Championship, and 2013 State Runner-up. He made all-state, all-region, 2013 Subway All-Star game, and 2013 South Regional All-Star game. He was also named most improved player.
 
Cosic graduated from Faith Baptist Christian Academy after playing three years at Belgrade Serbian High School. He helped lead his team to a runner-up finish in Serbian High School Tournament. Off the court, he was voted class president three times and was named 2015 Honorable Student at Faith Baptist Christian Academy. 
 
Beasley prepped in the homeschool program of Bluefield United. He played five seasons of high school basketball, helping his team win three state titles (2010, 2011, 2013). He was named first team all-state twice, second team all-state, HSPN National 3-point Champion in 2013, HSPN National 3-point Runner-Up twice and Crossroads Class MVP. Beasley scored 2,776 career points. As a senior, he averaged 20 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 3.6 steals per game. He shot 56 percent from the field and 44 percent from long range. 
 
Mosley prepped at Obion County Central High School where he played four years of basketball. He was named most improved player in 2013. He lead his team in 2014 and 2015 in rebounds. Off the field, he was a member of the Beta Club and the National Honors Society. He was also a Tennessee Scholar.
