In the second half, Union struggled to pull away, but managed to finally push the lead to double figures again, 57-46, with 10:22 left in the game. Following a basket from Southern that cut the deficit to nine points, Union hit four straight 3-pointers as a part of a 12-3 run. To lead 69-51 with 6:26 left. Kelsey Risner hit two of the 3-pointers during that stretch and hit all four of her 3-pointers in the second half.  Union matched their 18 point lead two more times in the final six minutes including the 79-61 final.

Union was led by Rechis with 16 points, including 4-of-8 shooting from long range. Risner added 12 points, all coming from her 4-of-9 three pointers. Philamlee and Christina Coney each added 11 points. McLaughlin added a game high six assists. Union shot 42 percent from the field, 36 percent (17-47) from long range, and 50 percent (2-4) from the free throw line.

Southern Wesleyan was led by Brianna Seda with 15 points. Christina Perkins added 14 points. Kiara Coleman added a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. The Warriors shot 44 percent from the field, 47 percent (7-15) from 3-point range, and 44 percent (10-23) from the free throw line. Southern Wesleyan shot 62 percent from the field in the first half, including 63 percent (5-8) from long range in the first 20 minutes.

Up next for Union will be a semifinal matchup against an old NAIA rival, Azusa Pacific (Calif.) Thursday, March 20 at 4:15 p.m. central time. Union and Azusa Pacific met in the 2010 and 2011 NAIA title games with each team winning one time.
