JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University volleyball team fell 3-1 (20-25, 25-21, 25-10, 25-17) Tuesday night to Christian Brothers University at 'The Fred'. Union dropped to 8-22 on the season and 3-15 in the Gulf South Conference. Christian Brothers improved to 16-12 overall and 12-6 in league play.

The match for Union was the final home match of the season for Union, which meant senior night for four young ladies. Abbey Wainwright, Savannah Hughes, Lydia Wright, and Mallory Baker were each recognized prior to match. Also recognized during the evening were numbers first responders from Jackson, Madison County, and on campus security. This capped off Union's annual Campus and Community Day in which over 750 Union students spent the day serving at various places around the community. The service projects were in thanks for the communities response to Union during the tornadoes that hit the campus during the early and mid 2000's.

Once the match started, Union and Christian Brothers went back and forth early in the first set, boasting eight ties and five lead changes. Union took the lead for good at 14-13 and outscored CBU 12-7 over the last half of the set.

In the second and third sets however, Union failed to maintain the momentum. Christian Brothers jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in both sets and never trailed or even allow a tie during the second and third sets. CBU won both 25-21 and 25-10.

The fourth set was much like the first with both teams playing close. Eight ties and three lead changes filled the early stages of the set. Christian Brothers took the lead for good 14-13 after Union led 13-12. The Lady Bucs pushed out to the 25-17 win.
