JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University volleyball team posted a sweep Tuesday in the home tri-match with wins over Fisk University and Williams Baptist (Ark. ) College, winning both matches 3-0. Union's improved to 7-18 in regular season play.
In the first match of the day Union came out in strong form winning 25-15, 25-18, and 25-13 against Fisk. Union was led by
Hannah Huguley with 13 kills, followed by
Deja Moorer with 11. Huguley also lead the Lady Bulldogs in assists with 20, followed by senior
Lydia Wright with 17.
Mallory Baker led with three blocks,
Elise Seufert led with 19 digs, and Wright led with three aces. Union earned 50 kills in the match to just 15 by Fisk.
In Union's next match, against Williams Baptist University, they were able to dominate the first set 25-14. Union then took sets two and three both by the score of 25-18. Union never trailed in the third and final set on the way to the win. Union was led by Moorer again with 11 kills. Huguley and Wright added 19 and 17 assists respectively, Seufert led with three aces, Huguley led with nine digs, and
McKenna Carter led with two blocks. Union led the Eagles in kills, 42-29 and was tops in aces 11-0.
Union will get back into conference play on Friday, October 24
th, at 7:00 p.m. against Valdosta State at home. Union will also be taking on West Florida at home on Saturday, October 25
th, at 2:00 p.m. for another conference match.
