MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Union University men's basketball team fell 89-59 on the road at Christian Brothers University Thursday night. Union dropped to 8-5 on the season and 4-3 in the Gulf South Conference. Christian Brothers improved to 8-5 overall and 4-3 in league play.
Christian Brothers exploded for 78 percent shooting from long range in the first half, making 14-of-18 3-pointers in the first 20 minutes. The Bucs were a perfect 7-for-7 from long range to start the contest before their first miss. The Bucs shot 62 percent from the field overall in the first half, outscoring Union 54-22 in the first half.
Union won the second half 37-35, and got as close as 22 points, 61-39 with 14:39 left in the second half. Christian Brothers cooled off in the second half, by comparison to the first half, but still shot a very impressive 52 percent from the field, and 44 percent (4-9) from long range in the final 20 minutes, eliminating any comeback thoughts by Union. Union trailed by as many as 35 points early in the second half for their largest deficit.
Trey Casey for Christian Brothers led the Bucs with a game-high 32 points, including 9-of-10 from 3-point range.

Corieon Pearson, who was playing in front of his hometown crowd. Pearson's solid stat line included 18 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and 3-of-5 shooting from long range.
AJ Roberts added 14 points for Union. Union shot 40 percent from the field, 22 percent (6-27) from 3-point range, and 82 percent (9-11) from the free throw line.
Christian Brothers was led with Casey's 32 points. Harry Green added 18 points. Christian Brothers dished out 23 assists in the game, including Ryan Fleming with seven and Green with six. The Bucs finished the game 58 percent from the field, 67 percent (18-27) from 3-point range, and 81 percent (13-16) from the free throw line.
Up next for Union will be a road game at No. 24 Delta State (Miss.) Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
